Tanjong
Katong Road are known to foodies as one of the upcoming happening
place for dining in the south east area. This road is practically
buzzing during lunch and dinner and finding a car park space is an
issue. As this area only serves lunch, dinner and supper crowd, it is
actually quite a challenge to find a place to have breakfast.
Fortunately,
Jalan Kayu The Prata Cafe is one of the establishment that open early
on the day we need some early grub. They open around 10am, while
other eatery open from 11am onwards.
So
how is the food? The prata here is actually quite good. It is thin,
fluffy, good serving size and the best part it is not oily. They did
not overcook the egg prata ($1.40) and my plaster ($1.40) have the
egg yolk oozing out of it. (plaster is kosong prata + sunny side up
fried egg on the outside like a band aid). While the curry has a
robust flavour into it, as it was probably from last night stock. To
be honest, the best curry for prata is an overnight curry, because
the flavour is just fantastic and robust.

The
kopi-C and ice lemon here are considerably good. However, they can be
extremely generous with their sugar. Service is a bit slow, but price
is very reasonable considering they are air-conditioned
establishment. The plain prata will set you back $0.90 while the egg
prata and plaster are $1.40 each. Kopi-C is $1.30 and Ice Lemon Tea
is $1.60. In total,we spend only $8 for breakfast.

Overall,
this place serve a simple Singaporean no fuzz breakfast. Although it
open a bit later than other prata shop, but they serve a good grub.
We don't mind coming back for more in the future. Cheers!!
