Deciding
where to go for excellent Japanese food in Singapore used to be a
daunting task. You can step into the Japanese Restaurants in 5 star
hotels or higher, you can expect to pay exorbitant price. You go to
normal shopping centre, you end up with some sushi franchise with a
very standard quality. Fortunately in the past few years, there has
been some Japanese restaurant popping up in Singapore providing
excellent quality food with reasonable price.

[CLOSED] MK Restaurant – Long Awaited Return
MK
Restaurant is one of Little Devil's favourite restaurant. Every time
we are in Thailand, it is a definitely-must to have one meal in MK.
So when MK re-open its branch in Singapore, she has been pestering me
to eat there. We were discouraged by the waiting time at first and
following that, we have a few trips to Bangkok, so there is no urge
to visit MK. This visit was also by coincidence when we need to do
something at 313@Somerset.

Ah Hoi's Kitchen @Traders Hotel: Seafood Delight with Ah Hoi
This
food review was based on invitation hosted by The Entertainer and Ah
Hoi's Kitchen ('Ah Hoi') team, to celebrate their most recent
collaboration.
Ah Hoi's Kitchen has been
known in the Singapore food scene for serving authentic local dishes
and seafood. My first visit to Ah Hoi was a few years back and I have
first hand experience enjoying their Hor Fun and other local dishes.
Currently helmed by Sous Chef Lam Loon Tuck, with the forte of local
dishes from the wok.

The Entertainer - Media Invite
During
our years in Melbourne, we already have a group makan buddies who
will drive all over Victoria to have different type of cuisines. But
just being students, we all have a budget limit until we came across
a booklet that is full of food coupons that had many restaurants
offering “Buy 1 get 1 Free”. This book actually help us in
stretching our budget and had me start my food journey of tasting
different cuisines. When I first came to Singapore, I was trying to
find similar books that offer such opportunity to continue my food
journey but it seems that Singapore has always been a bit slow in
catching up with advertising/promotions methods that are used
overseas. Yes, I really meant slow because after 10 years of wait,
FINALLY someone have came out with this concept.

[CLOSED] Xiang Man Lou (香满楼): Authentic Shanghainese Cuisine
Xiang
Man Lou ('XML') is a tiny Shanghainese Restaurant located at Temple
street squeeze between the Temple Inn and a slimming studio. You can
be sure that you probably passed this restaurant a few times without
taking notice of it. I certainly missed it when I try to locate it,
not to mention the non-English or non Hanyu pinyi signboard. Yup, if
you have not figured it out until today, now you know Chubby Botak
Koala can't read Chinese :)

Chew Kee Eating House – Soya Sauce Chicken Noodle
Walking
along Upper Cross Street in Chinatown, you will wonder if you are
seeing double. Two shops selling Soya Sauce Chicken, with name close
to each other, that you might think it was a spelling mistake during
the naming of the shop. However, sibling rivalry are the theme here
and we as the foodies in Singapore are to benefit for more option to
have.
