A Wedding
Anniversary is a special day for a married
couple. It is a significant date to remember, count your blessings
and to renew your commitments to each other. I was fortunate enough
to win One Night Weekend Stay at Premier / Signature Club Room (With
Club Benefits) from Orchard Hotel for my participations in their
Facebook photo 'Snap, Eat, Win' contest. So we decided to use it for
our Wedding Anniversary celebrations.

Orchard
Hotel is part of the Millennium Hotels Group, located at the shopping
and entertainment belt of Orchard Road. We checked in on a Saturday
afternoon and was allotted the unique Oriental theme Regal Red
Signature Club Room. The Regal Red and black colour is very prominent
in the decoration of the 17th Floor, starting when you
step out the lift on the floor, Signature club lounge and the rooms.
Give you nostalgic sense of the old Chinese Dynasty.

The room
size for Signature club room is about 301 square feet in size (info base on
their website, as I have no sense of measurement). Basically it is
bigger than the master bedroom of the latest HDB. To maintain the
oriental look they have to design a full stand alone cupboard, which
take up a lot of space at the entrance.

The
walking space is quite limited, remind of typical hotel rooms in
Tokyo, Taipei, Hong Kong or the recently developed hotels in Bangkok.
Of course we are talking about business room, not suite.
Once in
the room, we received a personal welcome message by the hotel on the
TV. Under it a spacious writing table, with our welcome fruits bowl
and other hotel information.

The bed
is very neat and tidy, but I find it very small in size. Furthermore,
it is only a queen size bed. Hmmm, it is going to be a ‘squeezy’
night, considering our not so small size bodies. We were hoping for a
King Size bed at least, a bit of disappointment for LD :)

The
bathroom is quite spacious, almost the size of the bedroom. Complete
with rain shower head, hydro-massage jets and portable shower head. A
luxurious toilet indeed. Complete amenities are provided.

From our
room, we have a good view of the swimming pool and Orchard road. As
there were work in progress, we decided not to go for a dip there.

The best
thing about the Signature Club Room is the access to Premier Club
Lounge (located in Orchard Wing). Although there is a signature club
on the Claymore Wings, no food and drinks are provided there during
the weekend. So after a quick afternoon nap, we decided to drop by
there for Evening Cocktail Session.

The
Premier Lounge is very spacious, with a very modern setting. For
Evening Cocktail session, they provided good spread of finger food /
small bites to complement your choice of drink, whether it is wines,
coffee, tea or soft drinks. The nibble is just delicious. For
Breakfast, the lounge is filled with natural lights and the food
standard is excellent.

As we are
celebrating our Wedding Anniversary, it is a tradition that we go for
steak, so we skipped the restaurants in the hotel, as there is no
decent western restaurants in the hotel. However, I did a food
tasting Orchard Cafe. Check out the review here.
The
service here is very friendly and professional. Check in and Check
out time is fast, less than 10 minutes. For other amenities, the
speed of the Wifi here is pretty fast. I watched one of the WC2014
games on my tablet without any problem. There is a Daily Digital
Newspapers with more than 2,000 publications available to see in your
tablet, however as it is a staycation, we decided to relax and switch
off.
Overall,
we have a good experience celebrating our wedding anniversary. It
will be excellent if we can have the King Size Bed. Thank you very
