Authentic Mun Chee Kee King Of Pig's Organ Soup – The Best Pig Organ Soup

Pig's Organ Soup is a traditional Chinese soup from Teochew Origin, which has clear yet robust broth with mix pig offals. Due to the tedious process required in preparation of this dish, it has become pretty difficult to get a bowl of good quality Pig's Organ Soup in Singapore.

My first encounter with Pig's Organ Soup by Authentic Mun Chee Kee King of Pig's Organ Soup ('AMCK') was about three years ago. It was during our late night supper search. Since then, it has become a must-go-to place for LD and I, when we are looking for soupy stuff in the middle of the night. Kind of our supper comfort soup.

The Menu

In AMCK, the pig's organ soup is priced at $4 and $6. The main difference are in the quantity of the ingredients. Inside the clear and robust broth, it has pig liver, slice pork, pork belly, pork ball, silken tofu, and salted vegetables. The pig livers are perfectly cooked where a hint of pinkiness remain on it upon serving. The sliced pork and pork belly is tender, succulent, without the dryness texture. While the pork ball is bouncy and meaty. There is sweetness in the broth from extracted from the pork bones with a subtle hint of salted vegetables.

Unlike those in other place, where the tasted of salted vegetables will hit you smack in the face, AMCK managed to reduce the saltiness to the minimum. There is even a hint of sweetness, like the salted vegetables that you normally find in Thailand. Made the soup more pleasant to drink. Please note that you can add more soup if needed, as we normally go for second servings of the soup.

Claypot Sesame Oil Pig's Liver ($7). Like the soup, the pig livers in this dish also perfectly cooked with a hint of pinkness in the liver. It is juicy, succulent while fragrant sesame oil and ginger took care of the gaminess in the liver. The sauce is thick and sweet, which bode well with a bowl of white rice ($0.60 per bowl)

Braised Big Intestines ($7). The big intestines are clean to the point of no gamy smell. Springy yet tender at the same time and it almost melt when it touch your tongue. The dark stew colour is just an invitation for you to dig in. The peanuts provide a different texture and a perfect companion to the intestines.

Braised Pork Rice ($1.80). This will remind your of Lu Rou Fan that you normally get in Taiwan or Taiwanese eatery here. Using the fatty pork belly and stew in soya sauce, it is then served on a bowl of white rice. So appetizing and so much cheaper than in Taiwan.

From the outside, you can see that AMCK try to maintain its sense of heritage. The tables and chairs inside are made from wood, similar to those that you can see in Hong Kong martial art ancient movie. The wall are plastered with the photo of the founder of AMCK. You must place your food and drink order at the counter, pay first and the food will be delivered to you when its ready. If you need top up for your soup, just bring it to the dedicated soup top up counter.

Overall, the taste of Pig Organ Soup in AMCK just suits us nicely. We have tried the Mun Chee Kee in nearby Foch Road and the Soon Huat in Serangoon Garden. Authentic Mun Chee Kee King Of Pig's Organ Soup still got our vote. Cheers!!
