[CLOSED] Your Italian Butler – Welcome to Chef Carmine's Home [MEDIA INVITE]

Vita Italiana has been rebranded to Your Italian Butler

Vita Italiana Restaurant

Vita Italiana, an intimate Italian restaurant located in Mosque Street, Chinatown Singapore. Yes, I did not type it wrongly. While most of us know Keong Saik area is populated with the trendy 'Around the World' restaurants, Mosque Street has always been filled with Chinese Restaurants and a few popular Korean Restaurants; Vita Italiana is here to break the stereotype.

The new management under Chef Carmine since May 2016, Vita Italiana took a no menu approach for its dining experience. Chef Carmine idea is for you to feel like dining at an Italian's home. Just inform him or Georgina (the manager) on what you don't eat, the chefs and the team will create their magic.

Part of the dining area

Lunch consist of 3 courses and 5 courses at S$28++ and $38++ respectively. While Dinner will offer 9 courses and 13 courses option including desserts at $68++ and $98++ respectively. Please note the dishes serve will change daily.

1st & 2nd Courses

Dinner started with the first 2 courses, combination of bread, cold cuts and cheese. There was two type of bread, Crispy plain bread drizzle with olive oil and Focaccia Oregano and Potato. The focaccia is just crisp and aromatic. While the Salads and olive with balsamic vinegar dressing is just refreshing.

Focaccia Oregano and Potato

Burrata, Talagio cheese and Sant' Olcese ham completed the platter. Burrata, one of my favourite cheese is soft and spongy. The taste is mild and perfect for any occasion. Meanwhile the Talagio cheese has a similar texture to Australia mozzarella. Looks hard, but soft and easy on the palate. Meanwhile the Sant' Olcese ham has a more waxy texture to it. Not very salty and apparently it contains beef and pork meat. It might take a few pieces to get used to the taste.

Burrata

3rd course was Prawn and Scallops with zafferano sauce. A beautiful combination of pan seared prawns and scallops topped with rich buttery saffron sauce. Both the seafood are fresh and well paired with the sauce. The fresh spinach acted as a base, or you can use it as wrap. How I wish there was more! Yum Yum!

3rd Course: Prawn and Scallops with zafferano sauce

4th course, Indonesian pomelo, Salmon, Black olive, Cherry tomatoes and White Vinegar Creme. The salmon practically melts in your mouth. The pomelo and vinegar give acidity to the dish while the olive and cherry tomato add natural flavour to this dish. Perfetto!! Perfect!!

4th Course - Salmon

5th course, Lamb cutlet, peas, bacon, bok choy and grilled chilli. A fusion between Italian style and cooking with Asian ingredients. Tender lamb cutlet, well seasoned and melts in your mouth. This dish actually pack some heat. So get ready to reach for your drinks if you are not into spicy food.

5th Course - Lamb Cutlet

6th course, Fregola pasta, pork ribs, bell peppers and balsamic vinegar. The pork is well-cooked till it almost fall off the bone. It is succulent and savoury as it soaks up the vinegar. First time I tried fregola pasta which is made from semolina flour. It has a texture similar to barley. Interesting combination indeed.

6th Course - Pork Ribs & Fregola pasta

7th course, Spaghetti Carbonara. Cooked the Italian way. No cream was added, it was just bacon and eggs. Rich, thick, porky together with each layer of al-dente spaghetti. Foodgasm!!

Spaghetti Carbonara

8th course, desserts. Homemade Tiramisu, Lavender Panna Cotta with brown sugar; and Vanilla Ice Cream. The tiramisu is rustic, soft and moist. No coffee liquor was used, however the coffee flavour is well infused. Really looks like homemade tiramisu.

8th Course - Desserts

Homemade Tiramisu

The wobbly panna cotta is an absolute must have here. Smooth, silky and enhanced further by the brown sugar. The vanilla ice cream is just rich and comforting. A perfect end to the beautiful meal.

Panna Cotta

For those beer and wine lovers, you can have Beer / Wine with food pairing for $38++. This will include about 5 type of Beer / Wine. A must try specialities here is Collesi, the most awarded Italian Artisanal Beer in Italy and Asia. An artisanal beer that is made to be savour with food.

Collesi Artisanal Beer

The settings of the restaurant, modern, intimate and colourful. The tall glass window will allow you to see the diners inside and the other way around. Though the dining area is small, you don't feel squeezed. I like the white colour wall, with the candle look alike lightings and striking orange place mat to brighten up the dining area.

The Collesi Selection

Dining in Vita Italiana is about enjoying the beautiful food with friends in a Chef's home. All the dishes are well executed, using best ingredients for the day in Italian style of cooking. Definitely one of the most memorable dining experiences I had this year. I had a great time, especially with the companion of 3 other foodies friend. Definitely a must try. Saluti!! Cheers!!
