Melt Café – Eat, Drink and Be Merry 2016 [MEDIA INVITE]

Festive Goodies by Mandarin Oriental Singapore

December is a month where festivities just filled the air. A time where co-workers, friends and family gather and enjoy each other company, delicious food and cheer someone up with a little gift to show them that you care.

Two-Tone Truffle Roasted Turkey, with Traditional Christmas Stuffing

This year, Melt Café treat us to the preview of their offerings during this festive period.

Maple Glazed Semi-Boned Ham

Starter, Clam Chowder Soup. Creamy and delicate soup with refreshing seafood taste. The clam is fresh and crunchy. Thought it is creamy, the soup has a lighter taste and easy on the palate.

Salad, Parma ham with Bocconcini, shaved Parmesan, Tomatoes and Balsamic vinegar dressing. A combination of thin slices of Parma Ham with the creamy Bocconcini is just endearing. The balsamic vinegar bind all the ingredients together. Creamy, Salty, Cheesy, Tangy and Fresh. Definitely my choice of salad.

From the Festive Roast, we tried Maple Glazed Semi-Boned Ham and Two-Tone Truffle Roasted Turkey, with Traditional Christmas Stuffing. Though I am not a fan of Christmas ham, I was able to appreciate the one that was specially prepared by Melt Café. It is tender, a touch of saltiness that is well covered with the maple glaze. It is served with grilled pineapple, which is perfect to balance the meatiness in the ham.

Turkey is perfectly done. We were served the turkey breast and it was moist and flavourful. The meat is mildly infused with truffle flavour, and the sauce basking the meat upon serving made it even better. I skipped the stuffing since I am not a great fan of it.

To accompany the festive roast are Buttered Brussels Sprouts and Roast Pumpkin. While some brussels sprouts can be perceived as slightly bitter, the version here is just rich and crunchy. It seems the butter remove any trace of bitterness in the sprouts making it a beautiful side for the meats. The roasted pumpkin has a sweet and creamy texture, provided a good pairing for roast turkey and ham.

Of course, the festive meal will not be complete without trying the dessert. I tried White Forest Christmas Wreath, Chocolate Yule Log Cake and Praline Chestnut Pear. My personal favourite is actually their log cake. The chocolate triple combination of dark chocolate creamier, chocolate sponge and chocolate crunch nicely melts in your mouth. Chocolategasm!!

The Festive Meal is available on top of the extensive spread on offer in Melt Café.
