The Peranakan – Yesteryears Menu for Mother's Day [MEDIA INVITE]

To celebrate the upcoming Mother's Day 2017, The Peranakan has prepared Yesteryears Set Menu. It is a combination of their signature dishes with some yesteryears dishes from Chef Raymond Khoo family recipes book.

Mother's Day Yesteryears Menu

The Yesteryears set menu started with the choice of Sup Bakwan Kepiting or Itek Tim. LD and I choose one of each. Although we have tasted it before, we found the both soup are more robust and intense this time around. The sweetness of the crab and pork were highlighted in every slurp of the Sup Bakwan Kepiting. The meatballs are springy with a touch of crunch in every bite.

Meanwhile, the Item Tim soup has that salty and tangy flavour that will wake up your appetite.

2nd dish was Nasi Ulam. The memorable and aromatic Nasi Ulam is presented in a heart shape, to show the love and appreciation to our Mothers. The aromatic fresh herbs especially the lemongrass plus the al-dente texture of the rice. You should treat this dish as a rice salad instead of to be eaten with other dishes.

La Barca – Family Friendly Italian Restaurant in Goodman Road

La Barca is a quaint Italian Restaurant located in Goodman Art Centre Campus. This is the second gem that we discovered in the secluded area. The name La Barca came from an Italian word that means a boat, just like the shape of the restaurant. La Barca serves classic Tuscan fare with a modern twist, focusing on the fresh ingredients and stylish presentation.

The Boat with the Corks

La Barca comes highly recommended from a fellow blogger, Purple Eats whom frequented the restaurant before. After the first visit, we have returned a few more times before I had a chance to write this review.

Outdoor Seating Area

Their entrée of Parma Ham and Burrata is a must try (Il Prosciutto Di Parma, Burrata Di Andria, Pomodori E Basilico - $40). The price might look stiff at first, but the portion does not disappoint. It is huge and enough for 4 pax. Thinly shaved saltish and delicate Parma ham combine soft, creamy and bouncy organic burrata cheese sure fire up our appetite and looking forward to the next dish.

[CLOSED] Goki Day – Simple yet Satisfying Korean BBQ Buffet

Goki Day Korean Bbq Buffet

Goki Day is an Authentic Korean BBQ restaurant located near Teck Chye Terrace near the Serangoon Heartland. A well-known food enclaved to the foodies. We have visited Goki Day multiple times and see their transformation first hand especially when they change their grill plate from sliding down type to rectangular type, to jumbo type and now to the round type.

The latest grill plate plus steamboat

Why we said Goki Day is Authentic because it is run by a Korean family from the start. This all-you-can-eat restaurant offered the Korean BBQ with Korean steamboat together. So you can please everyone who dines there. It also served ready cooked items while you are waiting for the meat to be cooked.

Baby Octopus

Our favourite here is the thick pork belly. Normally known as 5mm cut, it always delivers the porkgasm that you are looking for in BBQ pork. In the current round grill, you can fit only 3 pcs, but it has the most consistent fire that produces quality bbq pork belly at the end. It has a crisp exterior, follow with fatty and melts in your mouth pork belly. Yum Yum.
