Melt Café – Indian Food Festival [MEDIA INVITE]

Indian Food Festival - Chaat Counter

Celebrate Indian Food Festival at Melt Café with menu curated by Indian Speciality Chef Santosh Kumar from 15 to 28 May 2017.

My recommendations for the Indian food festival are:

Kukad Te Tamater Da Shorba. (Tomato Soup with Chicken and Coriander). This is the first time I tried soup in Indian cooking. A refreshing chicken tomato soup base, with a touch of tanginess that will tickle your taste buds. A good starter to your meal.

Curry Chicken Apom. Although I am familiar with Apom/Appam. The Indian version is made from fermented rice butter and coconut milk. It is soft, moist and provided an edible plate for the chicken curry. The chicken curry here is more creamy and tangy compare to those local Singapore Indian cuisine. The colour combination of orange and white will just whet your appetite. They also served the sweet version of Apom, which is good for desserts.

Chicken Biryani and Saag Wala Gosht. The chicken biryani is an absolute delight. It is aromatic, moist complemented a well-balanced flavour of the biryani. I paired it with tender and succulent Braised lamb Shoulder with Fresh Spinach and Royal Cumin, it just made my day.

Nalli Nahiri. A beautiful slow cooked lamb shank. This is supposedly an ancient recipe from the 18th-century empire. The dish normally slow cooked overnight, to produce a melt in your mouth meat and robust gravy. In this case, the meat from the lamb shank can easily be peel off the bone. The accompanying gravy is thick and robust. Yummy!! I regretted not having this with my biryani or naan. I was almost full when this dish was served.

On top of the Indian food festival menu, the regular lineup remain available such as their seafood selection, roast selection, Asian and International Cuisine and best of all their desserts. The 'Melt' Chocolate cake is not to be missed plus their gelato.

I wish I had more space to try out other cuisine, however the carbo from the biryani and lamb shank really stopped me from sampling other dishes. Not to worry, I am sure I will be back some other time. Overall, it was a good selection and Melt's never seems to fail in meeting my standard with their quality of food.
