Durian SG Prime is the latest durian shop and durian delivery that enter the Singapore market. Its operations started in June 2022, located in Lor 24A Geylang, just opposite the popular Yong He Dou Jiang. Durian SG Prime offer Pahang durians from exclusive mountain plantations that have never been seen before in Singapore. Durian SG Prime slogan is Cheapest – Quality – Guaranteed.

Durian SG Prime shop
Durian lovers in SG will know that the best Malaysian durians sold in Singapore comes from Pahang. Pahang itself is a very big state, with its mountainous terrain, it is a perfect place to grow and produce the best durian. Durian SG Prime durians come from three locations in Pahang. The Famous Tiger Mountain, Indigo Hill Mountain and Cold White Leaf Mountain.

The Famous Tiger Mountain, Sungai Klau, Pahang. Famous for its Ah Gong tree, dated over 103 years, while the rest of the 250 natural trees in the region are more than 40 years old. This area is known to produce Mao Shan Wang / Musang King Grade A durians and D24. With the MSW Grade A, you can expect a condensed and throat-sticking meat texture, with a bitter and sweet taste. The ultimate durian experience for durian lovers.

Black Gold from The Famous Tiger Mountain Old Tree
Indigo Hill Mountain is a short drive away from Indigo Hill Resort, East of Raub, Tras Pahang. This area is known for its red colour soil that is very fertile. Most of the durian trees are above 45 years old. This region is home to newly discovered durian plantations and it houses over 200 mature durians. This area is known to produce MSW Grade A & B. The MSW will have a thick flesh that will stick to your mouth and a small seed. The flavour is strong, with a bitter-sweet flavour.

Cold White Leaf Mountain, Klau River Pahang. The age of durian trees here are between 20 to 60 years old. This plantation near Klau River is also a fertile grown to grow durians, as the soil contains a lot of minerals. This area produces D24, Tekka, Classic MSW and award-winning MSW. For the MSW Grade A, you can expect a creamy texture of durian, with the signature MSW bitter-sweet taste.

When we visited their shop, they have 3 types of durians available. The first one is a regular MSW. On that day, it was priced at $18/kg. The shape of the durian is not whole round, but with an odd shape look. It is creamy and bitter with a sweet aftertaste. The flesh is thick, while the seeds are mostly thin and flat.

Regular MSW
Mini Seeds from Regular MSW
The second one that we tasted is the Black Gold MSW from the Famous Tiger Mountain Old Tree ($38/kg). The shape of the durian is round, plump and without blemish. The colour of the pulp is an inviting dark yellow colour, almost like gold. When we bit into the flesh, it was dense and easily stick to our throat. It tasted bitter, with an alcohol tinge and ended with a sweet flavour. This is the taste that durian lovers search for in a durian. In other words, the taste is just awesome. Yummy, die die must try!! It was so good that LD insisted on buying one for her BFF, in which she also give her thumbs up.

The Price
The third durian available that day is Old Tree MSW ($28/kg). We did not try it as we are too full, however, from the shape, it looks like a high-grade MSW.

Old Tree MSW
Durian SG Prime gets its supply directly from the plantations and bypasses the agent / middleman. With these cost savings, they can offer the price lowest price in the market when comparing the same grade of durians. Their grand vision is to Bring Durian’s Price in Singapore Back to 1980.

Durian SG Prime is committed to delivering the best durian to you. They deliver island-wide base on a two-hour time slot and also offer express island-wide delivery. If the durians are not up to standard or damaged, you are eligible for a free replacement within 24 hours of receiving your order. Free Delivery for orders above $99.

CBK Verdict: One of the best durians that I tried this year. The Black Gold MSW from the Famous Tiger Mountain Old Tree is an experience to behold and you will have durian lovers salivating for it. Die Die Must Try!! Cheers!!

Thank you very much Durian SG Prime for hosting us and the yummy durians.

Modori Sodam Collection - Makes Your Dream Kitchen A Reality [MEDIA DROP]

The challenge that every household face in Singapore kitchen is space. For those who cook, you will know that in an Asian kitchen, you will need different types of equipment. Wok, pots, frying pans and even serving bowls. To store all this cookware, you will need lots of space.

Sodam Cookware Set + Glass Pot Lid 22cm
Recently, we received a Media Drop for Sodam Collection from Modori Team. Together with the Sodam Cookware Set (18cm Cooking Pot + 18cm Multi-Use Pot Lid + 22cm Cooking Pot + 24cm Frying Pan + Multifunction Handle), and we also receive Glass Pot Lid 22cm.

The plus points of Sodam Cookware Set:
1. Stackable, fitting neatly into any cramped cabinet, save space
2. 5 layers of advanced, Xtrema™ Non-Stick Ceramic Coating (The Xtrema™ Ceramic Coating provides advanced non-stick frying capabilities with high durability)
3. Lead-free, cadmium-free, PFOA, PFAS-free.
4. It can be used on all stove-tops: Induction cooker, gas stove, heating plate, oven and dishwasher (Note: It should not be used in the microwave)

Sodam Cookware
We give the Sodam Cookware a test run for our Sunday roast dinner. For the 24cm Frying Pan, we decided to do a roast pumpkin. Since the Multifunction Handle is removable, we just put the pan inside the oven. It saves us extra washing and an additional roasting tray. To add charred to the pumpkin, we torch the pumpkin inside the Sodam frying pan. The pumpkin turned out very well and there is no charred mark on the pan. The washing part is also seamless, as those sticky parts just come out easily using a soft sponge.

Next up is the 18cm Cooking Pot and Multi-use Pot Lid. LD and I decided to try Gyeranjjim (Korean Steam Egg). We just prep the ingredients, start the fire, put everything into the pot and just cover it. We manage to get the eggs to rise and the texture similar to those we get in the Korean restaurant, although not the shape. We’re very happy with the outcome and with a few more practice runs, we should be able to perfect it. When we finished the gyeranjjim, we notice no eggs sticking to the bottom of the pot comparing to the traditional claypot that used in the restaurants. Very pleased with the results and cleaning the pot was a breeze.

Sodam 18cm Cooking Pot
The Multifunction Handle is easy to use. I was able to master it in three tries. The best part is once you get it locked, the handle grip on to the frying pan or cooking pot firmly and not shaky at all, even when they are fully loaded.

Sodam 18cm Cooking Pot - Full Load
We also test it by reheating Lamb and Vegetable soup. The soup was cooked in a jiffy and there was almost no residue stuck on the pot. The 18cm cooking pot comes with a pouring spout, so you can pour the soup with no or minimum spillage. It also functions as a vent hole to prevent pressure from building up in the pot.

Sodam 18cm Cooking Pot with Multifunction Handle
Once we are finished with the cooking and cleaning, the Sodam Cookware is easily stackable and easily stored. We tried a few different ways and this one seems to fit our style nicely.

Modori Cutting Board

Cutting Board is one of the most important items in the kitchen. However, it is also one of the tools that we need to keep checking or replacing most often, especially when it has a lot of cutting marks. Germs can easily get stuck in it and we need to ensure that there is no cross-contamination.

The team at Modori has created Modori Cutting Board made of TPU materials with high-quality flexibility and recovery power. It does not leave knife marks and scars easily and prevents the growth of harmful bacteria. You can easily sterilize it by pouring boiling water over it. (Suggest sanitizing within 10 seconds)

Modori Cutting Board Set
Modori Cutting Boards
We started using it a few weeks back. Till today, we still haven’t found knife/cutting marks on the cutting boards. Don’t forget to use separate cutting boards for fresh and raw ingredients, to avoid cross-contamination.

Modori Cutting Board - Cutting Vegetables
When I was cutting my roast lamb, I notice the meat did not slide around easily. The TPU materials provide good resistance and are less slippery compared to my other cutting boards.

Modori Cutting Board - No Knife Marks
Modori Cutting Board also comes with a metal stand. The colours of the cutting boards and the stand are very neutral, it easily blend into any colour or design of your kitchen. The stand will ensure there will be enough space between each cutting board and it will dry up properly.

Modori Cutting Boards with Stand
They have included the handmade ceramic magnet with this round and it can be used on the cutting board stand or your fridge doors to hold up any paper recipes.

Since we hardly freeze our cooked foods, we decided to stick with ice balls. One is made of water, and the other is made from milk.

CBK Verdict: Totally love the Sodam Cookware. It is non-stick, due to The Xtrema™ Ceramic Coating, easy to clean, easily stored and stackable as well. The best part is when I do my searing and roasting on the same frying pan seamlessly thanks to the Multifunction Handle.

The Modori Cutting Board is an essential in your kitchen’s daily usage. It is strong, durable and does not leave any cutting marks on it. Meanwhile, Modori Silicone Ice Ball Maker will give you more reasons to create your cold drinks. Not essential, but good to have if you got extra space in the freezer. Cheers!!

Conrad Singapore – Fashionista Afternoon Tea [Media Invite]

From Catwalk to Cakewalk, head pastry Chef Richard Chew and his team, taking inspirations from the runaway shows and recreating them in sweet form. It is the second year running, the pastry team at Conrad Centennial Singapore creating show-stopping patterns as well as signature items are merged with innovative textures and flavours.

From Catwalk to Cakewalk
From Catwalk to Cakewalk
This year Conrad Centennial Singapore collaborate with The Fashion Pulpit, a social enterprise that encourages the swapping of clothes. In this collaboration, there will be a showcasing 6 dresses from The Fashion Pulpit exclusive collection at The Lobby Lounge to promote environmental education and awareness in the field of fashion. Through this exhibition, they aspire to drive conversations about upcycling clothing that may no longer fit, worn out or damaged and transforming them into something new.

One of the dress from The Fashion Pulpit
The afternoon tea with a welcome drink, mango juice with coconut cream, topped with diced mangoes. It is sweet and refreshing, yet it was not as rich as I expected. Feels like you are having dessert to start with, a mango sago without the sago.

Welcome Drink
When it comes to Afternoon Tea, I will usually start with savoury. The list of the savouries is True Brie, Piquillo Marmalade, Hazelnut Oat Cracker; Sourdough, Kaya, Foie Gras Pâté, Caviar; Lemon Sablé, Smoked Fish, Yuzu Lemon Cream, Dill and Pickled Cucumber; and Premium Balik Salmon, Dill Sour Cream and Salmon Roe with Buckwheat Blinis.

Dill and Pickled Cucumber

My picks for the savouries are Sourdough, Kaya, Foie Gras Pâté, Caviar, which deliver bold creamy flavour, especially the foie gras pate and the popping caviar. The blinis (mini pancakes) with salmon and dill cream. A more classical flavour profile, yet it just never fails. Each of the savouries is topped with edible flowers, which are delicate and complement the taste of different ingredients.

The sweets are presented like a model strutting through the catwalk. STRUT YOUR STYLE Pistachio Praline. This edible shoe is made from white chocolate and topped with pistachio praline. It is almost too pretty to eat, as the sweetness of the white chocolate is balanced with the pistachio slight bitterness and nuttiness. However, I would prefer if they use matcha, as it delivers a more contrasting bitter taste compared to the pistachio.

DRESSED TO THE NINES Wild Blueberry Mousse, Almond Sponge and Crunch Base. A complete set of the dress, designed for a beautiful day in Spring, including the hat as well. The blueberry mousse combines well with the almond sponge and the crunchy base.

HASH BAG 64% Chocolate Anglaise Mousse, Exotic Jelly and Crunch. A chocolate handbag that is rich and filled with dark chocolate truffle. Plus, the fireworks (pop rock candies) effects in your mouth at the end are just awesome.

SEALED WITH A KISS Limited edition - Raspberry Sensation. An edible lipstick. It has a nice balance between sweet and savoury. Though it is made from raspberry, the flavour profile reminds me of the childhood snack hawthorn flakes.

When you almost finish your sweets and savoury, the service staff will deliver the scones, complete with homemade cream and strawberry jam.

Scones Original & Raisins
Scones Original & Raisins
To accompany your afternoon tea, you can have up to two choices of Ronnefeldt tea and coffee, hot or iced. This time around, I choose Orange Pekoe, Ceylon tea and finish off with Mocha. Meanwhile, LD chose the fruit infusion Sweet Kiss tea.

The Tea Set
Mocha
Overall, the sweets selections of the Fashionista Fashion Tea really impressed us. It truly took the inspirations from the catwalk and translates to the lovely desserts. The savoury bites and scones are good; however, they were just blown away by the sweets. A must-try afternoon tea. Cheers!!
